Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contests
Upon the Miami-Dade TPO Governing Board’s unanimous Resolution #33-2024, TPO staff reinstituted a PSA Contest to educate students about the role of the Miami-Dade TPO and utilize their creativity to develop transportation planning and safety related videos. TPO coordinates with Miami-Dade County Public School’s Career Technical Education (CTE) to conduct the yearly PSA contest from October to December amongst applicable public schools.
Railroad Safety PSA Contest – 2025/2026
This PSA Contest was a collaborative effort with South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA)/Tri-Rail focused on railroad safety, providing critical information to the community regarding how to remain safe around railroad tracks and intersections. PSAs were judged under the “TV Film Production” category during the day long CTE “Innovate Competition.” Miami-Dade TPO Governing Board recognized the first and second place student teams representing Hialeah Gardens High School and third place student team from Young Men’s Prep Academy.
Bicycle Safety PSA Contest – 2024/2025
This PSA contest focused on bicycle safety, providing critical information for a solid foundation for safe urban cycling. The TPO Governing Board recognized the first, second, and third place student teams representing Hialeah Gardens High School, Young Men’s Prep Academy, and Felix Varela Sr. High School, respectively. Also, an Honorable Mention was recognized representing Young Men’s Prep Academy.
