Municipal Grant Program
The Municipal Grant Program (MGP) was developed to have municipalities within Miami-Dade County submit transportation planning proposals to the TPO to receive funding on a competitive basis. Participation in the program requires a minimum 20% funding commitment from the municipality.
Now Accepting Proposals
Every two years, the Miami-Dade TPO makes available $300,000.00 in federal transportation planning funds for municipalities to apply under the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). Interested municipalities are now being requested to submit transportation planning study proposals to the TPO for consideration. It is recommended that your proposal includes:
1. Letter of Intent
2. Study Title
3. Purpose and description of the study
4. Benefits of the study to your municipality
5. Impact to mobility and traffic circulation, including, among others:
a. Intermodal nature of your proposal
b. Bicycle and pedestrian connectivity
c. Alleviating traffic congestion
d. Transit improvements
6. Consistency with municipal plans
7. Study proposed budget, itemizing requested amount and local match contribution
8. Condition of Award letter
Recommendation of awarding these funds will be made on a competitive basis and will become effective on July 1, 2016. A local match minimum pledge of 20% of estimated project costs is required of all applicants. Attached, also find a description of Task 8.6 of the UPWP regarding the Municipal Grant Program (MGP) and the Condition of Award Form.
Should you have an interest in applying to this program, the “Condition of Award” form must be completed, signed, and submitted with each proposal. The budget, listing the amount requested and the 20% minimum required local match, must also be included.
Your proposals should be submitted to Oscar Camejo, Financial Manager, at Oscar.Camejo@mdtpo.org, or mailed to his attention at 111 NW 1st Street, Suite 920, Miami, Florida 33128.
All submittals must be received in the TPO office by 5:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2016.
